Battle & Brush didn't start in a boardroom or as a corporate marketing tool. It started out of necessity to keep the local scene together.

When the original community Discord used by local players unexpectedly closed, hundreds of wargamers were left stranded without a reliable digital space to organize matches, paint nights, or tournaments. While Element Games remains one of our favorite local venues to roll dice, we realized the Birmingham scene needed a permanent, independent digital home. Instead of letting the community scatter, we built our own lifeboat.

The goal was simple: create a completely neutral, highly visible public front door that sits entirely separate from any structural transitions or gatekeeping cliques. Because the tabletop hobby can often feel hidden away in private group chats, we wanted to build a public front door where anyone can easily find us. We wanted a space where the only thing that matters is rolling dice and painting plastic with good people.

Today, Battle & Brush is an independent, 400+ strong community spanning Birmingham, Walsall, and the West Midlands. We are proudly LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent friendly, completely free of meta-pressure, and 100% focused on the players. Whether you are bringing a fully painted competitive army or just learning the rules with grey plastic, you have a seat at our table.
